Synopsis

Ellis Wright is a therapist—a “shrink”—whose stress starts to literally shrink him. As his career, family, and sanity slip further out of reach, he scrambles to hold his life together while his world grows monstrously oversized. In the end, he is forced to face the one patient he’s always ignored: himself.

All of the sets for SHRINK! were built from the ground up in the backyard of our director’s house, transformed into a functioning micro-studio. With limited resources, I designed and hand-drew detailed floorplans for each location—from Ellis’s therapist office, to the sterile hospital spaces, to the surreal miniature environments needed for the shrinking sequences.
Ellis’s Office was designed as the emotional core of the film: a therapist’s space filled with professional order that slowly breaks down alongside Ellis’s sense of control.
The Emergency Room & Doctor’s Office contrasted that with bright, clinical sterility—settings that both diagnose and mirror Ellis’s unraveling.
The Hallways & Robson’s Office were re-dressed versions of the same set, showcasing how a single location could be adapted into multiple worlds.
For the miniature “shrinking world” sequences, I conceptualized playful, oversized props (a coffee mug as a hot tub, a sticky note towel, a mouse pad yoga mat) that blur the line between reality and surreal comedy.
Every design choice was aimed at supporting the central theme of stress physically manifesting in Ellis’s body, creating an environment where the sets themselves feel like they’re closing in on him.
